An Open Notice to Village, Town and County Officials

Hiring sites for illegal aliens are illegal.

Will you uphold or break United States immigration laws?

With regard to violations of 8 U.S.C. § 1324(a)(1)(ii)-(iv) and (v)(ii), domestic transportation, harboring, encouraging/inducing, or aiding/abetting, the basic statutory maximum term of imprisonment is 5 years, unless the offense was committed for commercial advantage or private financial gain, in which case the maximum term of imprisonment is 10 years.

Beyond the letter of the law, facilitating the continued presence of large numbers of illegal aliens endangers our communities.

·      Illegal aliens are obviously unchecked for criminal records or for their health status.  The defendants in two brutal rape-murders committed last spring in Rockland and Westchester counties are Guatemalan illegal aliens. Their trials are scheduled to begin soon.  Hopefully, their immigration status will not be ignored by the media.

·          There have been outbreaks of multiple-resistant strains of tuberculosis and rubella among illegal aliens in Westchester County.

·           Illegal aliens who often carry no medical insurance are bankrupting our hospitals.

·      The children of illegal aliens are placing an increasing burden on our school systems many of which have instituted costly multilingual programs.

·               Tolerating the illegal employment of illegal aliens by businesses which evade taxes and pay lower wages unfairly penalizes law-abiding businesses who must compete with the lawbreakers.

Instead of considering illegal hiring sites, it would be more beneficial to our communities to consider taking advantage of a provision of the 1996 Immigration Act that authorizes local counties, towns and municipalities to enforce immigration laws.

We hope you take the above matters into consideration in your deliberations.
