Beyond the letter of the law, facilitating the continued presence of large numbers of illegal aliens endangers our communities.
· Illegal aliens are obviously unchecked for
criminal records or for their health status.
The defendants in two brutal rape-murders committed last spring in
·
There have been outbreaks of multiple-resistant
strains of tuberculosis and rubella among illegal aliens in
· Illegal aliens who often carry no medical insurance are bankrupting our hospitals.
· The children of illegal aliens are placing an increasing burden on our school systems many of which have instituted costly multilingual programs.
· Tolerating the illegal employment of illegal
aliens by businesses which evade taxes and pay lower wages unfairly penalizes
law-abiding businesses who must compete with the lawbreakers.
Instead of considering illegal hiring sites, it would be more beneficial to our communities to consider taking advantage of a provision of the 1996 Immigration Act that authorizes local counties, towns and municipalities to enforce immigration laws.
We
hope you take the above matters into consideration in your deliberations.
